Khalid Sarwar Warraich

Chief Information Officer

Khalid Sarwar Warraich is the Chief Information Officer for Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar. He leads the Information Technology department that provides the computing, communications and educational technology services and infrastructure to support the university mission.

Before joining Carnegie Mellon, Khalid served as the Chief Information Officer for Texas A&M University at Qatar (TAMUQ) for almost 7 years. Under Khalid’s leadership, the TAMUQ IT department spearheaded the move to its own campus, established the IT support for various engineering labs and expanded the business computing services. The research computing group was also established during this time and high performance computing and scientific visualization services made available to the campus to support the teaching and research missions.

From 2001 to 2006, Khalid served as faculty member in Computer Science in various universities (NUST, NUCES, and GIFT) in Pakistan.

From 1995 to 2001, Khalid served in the Supercomputing Facility at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas where he served as the Associate Director.
