Welcome back at the start of a new academic year. I am writing to remind you of the appropriate use for the various distribution lists for faculty and staff.

Purpose |
Faculty List | Use for official communication from your office or department to faculty. E.g., “Library has added the following new electronic resources.” All faculty are members. Postings will be modified by the Dean’s Office prior to distribution. |
Staff List | Use for official communication from your office or department to staff. E.g., “Library will be on reduced operating hours between semesters.” All staff are members. Postings will be modified by the Dean’s Office prior to distribution. |
Faculty-Staff List | Forwards message to Faculty list and Staff list. Use for official communication from your office or department. Postings will be modified by the Dean’s Office prior to distribution. |
Community Announcements | Use for unofficial communication from yourself or your department. E.g., “Library will have a baby social on Tuesday morning. Bring your babies and take selfies.” This list is unmodified. |
