How should I connect to the CMUQ network?
You can connect to the CMUQ network by the following 3 ways:
- Wired network (Ethernet)
- Wi-Fi (CMUQ-SECURE, CMUQ-GUEST and eduroam)
- VPN connection
Wired network
Only CMU provided computers are authorized to connect to the wired network, users are strictly forbidden from connecting personal devices to the wired network unless instructed to do so by IT. This is a high-speed wired network (Ethernet) with speeds of up-to 1 Gigabits per second. This should be your choice of connection when you are working with and transferring files over the network.
Wi-Fi (CMUQ-SECURE, CMUQ-GUEST and eduroam)
We offer fast and reliable wireless network here at CMUQ. Here is a list of the main features of the Wi-Fi network connection:
- Covers more than 90% of the CMUQ building.
- Using the latest standards of 802.11ac.
- Broadcasting over 2 channels 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz.
- Allowing access for affiliates and visitors, to connect to the internet and local services such as file and print services.
