Qatar Foundation provides us with telephone service for office/campus use. Videoconferencing is provided by IT for communication for teaching, work, and other collaborative work.
Every employee is assigned a desk phone for their use for university business. The phone is configured for calls to land lines and mobile phones in the country. The phone can also be configured for international dialing (if requested) and can include an access code (which you type before dialing out) in case your desk is in an open space. There is a Qatar Foundation wide phone directory built-in and accessible from your phone.
Videoconferencing facilities are available in classrooms, lecture halls, conference rooms, office, and (if you request) on your laptop. These systems use the H.323 teleconference protocol that has been used for decades and is the most widely compatible system for video-conference communication. A full list of video-conference capable locations is available.
